Anybody ever loaded for it, 450 marlin works great but is way on the light side I'm up to a compresses load of 51 gr of h4198 with barnes 400gr flat point getting 2150 fps,any one got any recipes

a .450 Marlin with a Speer 400 grain bullet and a near max load of AA2230 will do an honest 1930fps out of a short barrel. Plus hand down more recoil than I like! With something like a 23" barrel you ought to see close to 2100fps with a similar load. But you could seriously increase the load. Have you tried AA 2015? or even something like IMR 3031.

I've always liked the short Barnes case design, and have almost put one together a couple times.

Powder availability has been my issue but I will call my supplyer and see if he can set me some back, BTW this thing will knock you on your rear with a barnes 400gr fnsp and 51gr of 4198 the rifle weighs 7 lbs

I have an RCBS 3-die set of 458x2 American dies that I'd let go for $100. They are in very good condition. Not to jack your thread but its one of the first threads I've seen posted about this cartridge. If your interested, PM me.

I wish I had known that ...I use 450 marlin dies they seem to work great so far
