I bought a Ruger 77 African over the winter, it's the one that doesn't have the threaded bbl. for a brake or weight. I've only put about 30rds. through it do to weather & work. I haven't even put a scope on it yet. I'm thinking of taking the one off of my Rem.700 308, a Nikon monarch 2.5x10x42. And getting a new one for the Rem700. But that's a different subject. Anyway I'm reloading for the 375 using H4350 & RL-17. Loads for the H4350 were pretty easy to find in Hodgdon's & Hornady's manuals. And the Hornady manual all so has loads for RL-17. But I've done about every search I could online and found lots of other loads, some on here & other forums & pdf articles. Which those were a little hotter then the Hornady manual lists. My question is are these loads I'm listing safe & are the velocity's I'm listing about in the ball park area? I'm estimating the velocity with all the data I've accumulated from other people's posts using a chronograph. Some with 20", 23",24", 26" bbls. Mine is a 23" bbl. Using H4350 300gr. 79.5grs. 2610fps 285gr. 81.5grs. 2680fps 270gr. 82.5grs. 2730fps 260gr. 82.5grs. 2785fps 250gr. 82.5grs. 2790fps Using RL-17 300gr. 81.5grs. 2730fps 285gr. 82.5grs. 2765fps 270gr. 83.5grs. 2800fps 260gr. 84grs. 2875fps Now remember these are just a ballpark for the velocity's, but do they seem to be reasonable? Also any other data using these 2 powders would be greatly appreciated. And I'm also thinking of trying the Barnes TSX 235 bullet. So any input on those would be good too. I also have Varget & H414 to use.
