I bought a Ruger 77 African over the winter, it's the one that doesn't have the threaded bbl. for a brake or weight. I've only put about 30rds. through it do to weather & work. I haven't even put a scope on it yet. I'm thinking of taking the one off of my Rem.700 308, a Nikon monarch 2.5x10x42. And getting a new one for the Rem700. But that's a different subject.
Anyway I'm reloading for the 375 using H4350 & RL-17. Loads for the H4350 were pretty easy to find in Hodgdon's & Hornady's manuals. And the Hornady manual all so has loads for RL-17. But I've done about every search I could online and found lots of other loads, some on here & other forums & pdf articles. Which those were a little hotter then the Hornady manual lists.
My question is are these loads I'm listing safe & are the velocity's I'm listing about in the ball park area? I'm estimating the velocity with all the data I've accumulated from other people's posts using a chronograph. Some with 20", 23",24", 26" bbls.
Mine is a 23" bbl.

Using H4350
300gr. 79.5grs. 2610fps
285gr. 81.5grs. 2680fps
270gr. 82.5grs. 2730fps
260gr. 82.5grs. 2785fps
250gr. 82.5grs. 2790fps

Using RL-17
300gr. 81.5grs. 2730fps
285gr. 82.5grs. 2765fps
270gr. 83.5grs. 2800fps
260gr. 84grs. 2875fps

Now remember these are just a ballpark for the velocity's, but do they seem to be reasonable? Also any other data using these 2 powders would be greatly appreciated.
And I'm also thinking of trying the Barnes TSX 235 bullet. So any input on those would be good too. I also have Varget & H414 to use.

I've used the 270 TSX and the 260 Accubond. My most accurate load was 74.2 grains of RL15 with a 270 TSX at 2740 fps. My most powerful load was the 83.5 grains of RL17 with a 270 TSX running 2820 fps in the same 23" barreled rifle as yours. The RL15 load produced several 1/2 MOA and under groups. The RL17 load was around 3/4 MOA out to 350 yards. My 260 AB load was with 83.5 H4350 and it was around 1/2 MOA at 2800 fps. I used CCI 250s on all loads.

Thanks brentc. So my estimates aren't to far off. And plus I know every rifle won't shoot the exact same.
I'm using WLRM primers. That's what was availible at the time so I bought 2000 to make sure I didn't run out any time soon.
I was figuring about 30 fps difference per grain of powder & about 25 to 30 fps per inch of bbl. difference.
One day my cheap *** might buy a chronograph.

I know this is a bit old, but I found my subscription to Loaddata.com was well worth it for the 375 Ruger, a decent variety of loads, and several that shot very well for me.
