Loaded up some fire form loads for my Encore pistol. Using 35 Whelen brass, 61.0 grs of AA4350 and a 270 gr Hornady spire point. Sure blows the shoulder forward!

Did JDJ guys do the barrel for you or SSK.

I believe that is the same company

Yes SSK manufactured the the barrel.

I've owned a 30-06 JDJ. Short neck (0.250") with a 60 degree shoulder, minimal body taper.

I've shot some one hole groups with it. The short neck never was an issue.

Here are two more SSK cartridges I have. 6.5 Mini-Dreadnaught JDJ based on the 220 Swift case and 35-06 JDJ both have 60 degree shoulder and short neck. Pretty sure all of the JDJ cartridges for the Encore have short necks. Never had any issues with them.


257JDJ Contender based on 225 Winchester has a short neck too.
