It just occurred to me that it's worth mentioning that even though the Max case was designed to run in a 3.1" magazine if you were going to use something like a 250 Berger, most of the spitzer style 338 bullets, that many would likely use, would still run under 3" coal in a std short action. Food for thought if you want to have a short action Hammer for bears, etc with something like a 250 Accubond!
Also Steve (Hammer Bullets) might have, or could design, a lighter mono in the Sledgehammer design that would work?
    What about that Steve?

I'm sure this combo would run a 200 grain Accubond at 3200' with a coal to the lands around 2.960"

The 225 Sledge Hammer is 1.456" long, the 255 1.6".

    250 Accubond 1.567".

What kind of brass does one use for the 338 Sherman? Factory or is it a necking up process?

If you mean the LA Sherman based on the 270 case, you neck it up

So you can use 270 adg and neck it up to 338 Sherman max? Sounds like a hot rod. Currently necking up 06 brass to 338 for my 338-06

Let's start from scratch. The Sherman Max case is Saum based and you would create the 338 max from necking up the 7 Max which is a highly modified Saum.
The 338 Sherman is based on a highly modified 270w case on the '06 head size .470"

I'm sure we can figure it out if one of our current models doesn't fit the bill.

Would be a great 500y and in Hammer!

What kinda velocity would you be looking at with a 24" barrel and 250gr bergers?
