I picked up a box of 285 ELDMs for my 338 Rum with a lil beast brake on a stock 26" sporter barrel and action. Hornady is less than zero help and need some load data or at least a good start point. I have H-1000 and retumbo and would prefer to stick with those for temp stability but I'm open to anything cuz I know a lot of guys like r33. I have Remington brass and any primers. Any info is helpful. Thanks ahead of time.

I'm partial to H1000 and I will choose it over Retumbo 100% of the time. For the 285 I'd start at 88 grains with a Fed 215 and work up to pressure. Expect to see 2800 fps on the top end with H1000 in a 26" bbl. Retumbo might get you an extra 30 fps, but it's not worth it IMO.

Hodgdon reload info center online has data for 275 and 300 grain bullets. You should be able to use any starting load for the 275 gr bulets and work up from there.
My 338 edge is showing best velocities from rl 26 and 300 Bergers.
H1000 is showing best accuracy and good/ very good velocities.

Anyone have 285 eldm load data for vv n570 for the same 338 RUM? I'm loading at 3.78 to have some wiggle room in a 3.80 wyatts. I've got some 250 Berger's at about .45 MOA at the moment but the ELDMs are intriguing me.

A data point:

338 RUM
26" lilja 1:10
285 eldm
100.0 grains LRT
cci 250
2779 fps
0.8 moa @ 100

A couple years old but chiming in to give some info. I have been hunting with the 285 eldm's for the past two years, I get excellent velocity from them, 2940 with 100 gr of rl33. Loads shoot well and with same velocity from both of my 338 rums.
99 grs of rl33 with a coal of 3.800 with 300 berger otms and 2850 fps, same with 300 gr accubonds, but shorter oal to keep off the lands.
