I no this is probly not the right forum but I no you guys will no the answer to my question. What would you guys recommend for brass for a 338 in a custom rifle? I have seen some things about hornady sticking in the chambers in the savages but I didn't know if that was just them. Also I seen nosler makes some brass. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks Matt Allen

^^^ X 2.
I had a custom build in .338lm and thought it would be a good idea to find some once fired brass for bulk shooting and keep my lapua for precision work. I bought both lapua and hornady 1x fired from quite a few different folks.
Most of the once fired were in Savage factory rifles, either the BA or the HS. All of the hornady wouldn't chamber after sizing, and only the lapua that was fired in other weapons would (after sizing). This leads me to two points, hornady brass is way too soft and two, the savage chamber is quite sloppy.
I am not bashing any one company here, but for brass, Lapua all the way. I have no experience with norma, but I would use it if the deal was good enough as I have heard good things from them. hth

I'll be different... Lapua or PPU. Just for kicks and grins I cut a Lapua case and a PPU case lengthwise (with a slitting saw) and compared them internally. Other than the headstamp I can't see any difference in gage of material or design.

Maybe the metallurgy is different but dimensionally, they are the same (and I destroyed 2 cases)......:)

Now, the PPU's are considerably cheaper (if, you can get them).
