Started reloading a new Savage 338 Lapua with a 26" barrel. Speeds checked using Magnetospeed V3. I get 2800 fps with 90.3 grains of H1000. Seated to mag length (3.750"). Does not seem over pressure, but most load books list 2800 fps as max speed for max load. However, Berger lists their loaded ammo pushing almost 3000fps with the same bullet. I can hear that I have room in the case for more powder. I went up to 92 grains and hit 2860fps, but started to see a scratch on the base of the brass around the primer hole. I'm noticing speeds get very close to each other between 90-90.5 grains. I'm thinking that where I will find the best accuracy. What should i expect for speed? Thanks
