Im in the process of building a 338 EDGE. I want a finished 30in barrel. Im trying to gather info before I order a barrel. Im wondering if anyone will share thier specs, of thier rifle with me. IE: barrel brand, twist rate, rifleing type, and if known final wieght of thier rifle with the contour they have chosen. I have been doing a lot of reserch, but would like to get some responces from some longrangehunting.com guys. Thanks in advance.

Mine is a 338 Ultra mag with 30 inch Broughton, heavy palma contour 9.3 twist 5C with Jim See's muscle brake on it. The barreled action weighs 9.5 lbs.

I got the stock bedded and sanded but it still has to be cleared. So it hasn't been shot yet.

my edge is still in parts but my component list is as follows :
Broughton 5C 1:9 twist heavy palma @30 inches may cut to 28
R700 Action
badger lug
badger knob
4 port muscle brake with top slot
Manners T5A stock
Nightforce NSX 5.5-22x56
Seekins DBM for .338 lapua
mounts are yet to be decided as i want the ken farrell setup but the rings are always out of stock so it may be nightforce or leupy mark 4's

VSSF, great looking rig. Doesn't look like it would be 19 pounds but looks can be deceiving.

Downside to the 5 c rifling ? Well most guys are getting a little more velocity out of them in the same length barrell , there is no guarauntee of this but but it is common from what I have read , not really a down side though and as far as twist I would say 1:9.3 or faster

My Edge specs are as follows:

28" Lilja #7 contour w/1 in 10 twist
Manners MCS-T stock
Nightforce 5.5x22 scope
Wyatt extended box mag
Gre-Tan striker upgrade
Nightforce Ultralight rings
Badger 20 MOA rail
Rem 700 action
PK brake

It has no problem stabilizing the 300 gn Sierra's
Scope and rifle together weigh in at 13.5lbs.

TAP, nice list of components do you have any pics?

I have yet to find any downside to the 5R rifling, they don't foul as easy, breakin fast and shoot fast. I guess if those are three strikes, then you should count them out! Personally I find those attributes to work for me, and so does the 9.3 twist!
