View attachment 122304 Here is the latest two 338's in progress .
Left 338 Rum Carbon 30" Benchmark , Remington action timney trigger Hs Stock talley lights Leupold vx 3 6.5 x 20 x 50 .

Right , 338 Edge 30 " Proof terminator 3 Remington action , timney trigger McMillan carbon hunter 20 moa rail Burris Xtr ii 5x 25 x 50 in Warne rings . Both are almost ready to fire ! Load work to come when weather brakes ! Both are at 10.6 pounds .
what is the preferred action Length for a .338 Edge?

would a Wyatt’s internal be sufficient with a 700 RUM Action To load long, or should we use a Clone?

Rum man which muzzle brakes you got on those rifles. When I get my edge put together I know the exusti
Existing brake that is on the barrel I have will not be timed correctly so looking for options not big fan of self timing brakes some are ok but mostly just look odd. Thanks.

That is the factory Savage brake, I have a couple extra laying around if you want one.
The company I sent my barrel to to be carbon wrapped also did me the luxury of sending me one of their muzzle brakes (even though I didn’t order one) and charged me an extra $100 for it. If you want it I’ll make you a heck of a deal. It’s a nice looking brake and from the design probably pretty good, better than the factory Savage.
Is it a self timing brake or can it be blended, machined to fit contour?

You could open it it up for the Wyatts box . I bought one but never installed it .
I have all mine single feed ...everyone is different in there thoughts of a few extra rounds . I can feed one in fast enough for my type of hunting .

My favorite muzzle brake is the terminator, I have both the T-3 and the t-4 and they are Amazing. They are not self timing brakes.

Looks like terminator brakes blend real well. Are they worth the cost they are spendy. But look very nice.

Well I cant remeber if I posted the final set up with one of my 338 Edges so here it is .
20200410_110108.jpg

It's a Remington action single feed , bolt face trued , lugs lapped , timney trigger , 29" Kreiger heavy Palma flutted , radial brake ,
Bell &Carlson A5 adj. Stock , 55 moa base , 8/40 , topped wit with a Valdada 200 min. adj. base with two sets of Vortex Precision rings , a Vortex Razor gen 1 5x 20 x 50 .
Just about 325 min. Of Elevation adj. available.
Seems to love the 300 gr bergers OTM , H-1000 , Remington brass , Cci mag 250 primers @ 2849 ft.per.sec.

I choose to shoot from a bench because of my Open Heart Surgery. It kills me to lay Prone .
This set up has produced three in the same hole at 100 yrds. and a 26 3/4" three shot group at 3027 yards ! My personal best to date ! She sets as is at 19.2 pds .
It has smacked steel at 1500 yrds, 1 mile , 2053 yrds and out to 3027 yrds .
It has been a Challenge to say the least !

Here is a picture of the long shot area . Cant thank my Buddy's enough for help getting the Target up that Mountain!!

I don't know if there are magazine window dimensional differences between a stock R700 and a clone. I can tell you I built a repeater using a Stiller Predator (R700 footprint). I used the long Wyatt's box. I had to machine the action to lengthen the mag window on the back end significantly. I don't have a mill so a Dremel and a lot of patience used. The gets the Wyatt's box to fit. Then I had to modify the bolt stop to let the bolt come back further to pick up the rounds. They feel lips on the Wyatt's box were sharp and needed some work but it feeds reliably.

Savage LA single shot
McGowen 30” Fluted Barrel
Choate Stock
Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50
TPS Steel Rings on Warne Steel Base

Custom Cheek Rest, Tactical Bolt Knob,
Scope Level, and Timed 4 Port Brake all machined one off’s by me.

Very Accurate with 300gr SMK’s or Nosler Custom Competitions over H1000.
How much does that set up weigh with the choate stock.
