Anyone had any experience with a 338 calibre rifle based on the 300 Winchester Magnum?

I have a Sako .338WM and it seems like I should be able to simply run a 300WM reamer into it to obtain some extra horse power.

I get 2427 fps with a 300grn Sierra Matchking out of my Sako .338WM, so I think I should be able to get 2550 to 2600fps with the larger 300WM case?

Any ideas?

Hi.

Dont know about passing the reamer in a 338 but wy???
The 338wm is already more stronger than the 300wm.
Y sudgest a lighter bullet more like 225gr for this rifle.
If you whant more horse power it will be a good reason for a brand new rifle.
The 340wby or 338rum should do the trick. They got more power to drive the heavy bullet and to long rangee hunting.

For every 10% increase in case capacity at the same pressure one will only get a 2 1/2% percent in crease in velocity. The amount of case capacity difference between the 338 win and the 30/338 win is not enough IMHO to make it a worth while gain. A 338 RUM or Edge would definitely better the way to go IMHO
