Would anyone be willing to offer some quick load data for me on this 338-300?

I have 1lb of Retumbo and 2lbs of H50BMG (might be too slow for my 338-300, but I can use in the Edge).

I would be curious to see what an H50BMG load would do, as it is a prevalent powder.

Well I got the rifle back. I tested some loads today

285 AMAX
3.775 OAL (AM extended length)

Reloder 19
72gr
2731 fps

Retumbo
80gr
2773 fps

Sorry for letting this thread go dormant-I have been busy with engineering classes.

I have some RL-33 and Berger 300gr that I am going to work some loads for after the rifle comes back from getting a salt bath nitride finish from H&M.

In the meantime...enjoy this photo of my 5 shot group at 1200 yards with my .308, 208 AMAX loads....clocked at 2600 fps with a 24" barrel.

I know this thread is a little over 4 years past. I found it while looking for others load data for the several different variants of the .338-.300 Win Mag. I just ordered a .338-.300 Win Mag reamer from JGS. Went with a 35 degree shoulder, minimum neck "No turn", had the reamer set up for the 230gr Hornady ELD-X's to be .010 off the lands at a COAL of 3.550 in Winchester brass, so they will feed from a Magpul AICS Mag.

I thought what the heck. I own a .338 Ultra and a Benchmark built .338 Edge which is spooky accurate. I also am very fond of the .300 Win Mag chambering. I built a 28" 7mm-.300 Win Mag this last fall and it surpassed my expectations in performance and accuracy. I took a Mulie with it this last fall at 847 yards.

So I already have plenty of .338 bullets in stock along with .300 Win Mag Brass.

Interested in how your loads do with velocity. Lightest I have done is 250gr SMK's .

Good to see someone else trying out my cartridge idea.

Sheepdog , what were you getting out of the 300's ? I'm actually building one with smack and am curious ? We're hoping to get the extra velocity withe the extra shoulder !

Way cool. I'm looking forward to seeing what your velocities are going to be with the improved shoulder. Once you fire form and work up full house loads. Your going to be nipping at Lapua velocities. With way less powder.
