I stumbled across this cartridge recently and now it has my attention.

Does anyone here have one? If so, I'd love to talk to you more about it.

If you just want a .338-300 WM, then go right ahead. But if you've already got a .338 Edge, you've already got the .338 game covered.

Why not a 7mm-300WM or just a straight .300 WM?

It seems like a silly idea for me to go with a 338-300, but in reality it's a good idea with the brass availability for the 300 WM.

I've got a spare 338 barrel I need to do something with and money isn't an issue for me.

Why not go with a .338 Federal? That's awesome barrel and brass life, and it's a fun gun to shoot. Not fast at all, but it would last forever.

Or a .338-06 A-Square 40-degree.

I don't have one but a 338-300 WM is viable..

More than a 338WM
More than a 338-06 A-Square
Less than a 338 Edge

Do you want a belted magnum 338?

If you want something in 338 less than an Edge and more than a 338WM and are willing to wildcat, shameless plug for a 338/26 Nosler

I say go for it, there nothing wrong with having two .338s Many people have different cartridges of the same caliber...

I think that's what I will do. Simply necking up 300 WM brass to 338 sounds pretty cool...plus having it long-throated would give some pretty sweet performance with high BC bullets.

1) Easy to get brass.
2) No major brass work (simply neck up)
3) Long range performance

what's not to like?

What is the parent case for the 338/26?

What is the parent case for the 338/26?

The .26 Nosler.........

The parent to the 26 Nosler is the 7mm RUM
The parent to the 7mm Rum is the 404 Jefferies

The 404 Jefferies begot:
RUM
WSM
WSSM
SAUM

I think Ruger SM, Dakota, some Lazzeroni and some Allen all had origins in the bloodline.

The 375 H&H begot:
Almost every belted magnum design with a .532 bolt face.
