.308 palma

My advise with a 308 is keep it at 750 and closer, unless you wanna drop thousands to build a custom 32" barreled 13 twist palma rifle to shoot 155 smk palmas at 3100 fps with H4895 and CCI450s from palma brass when its 60-90* out.

My 308 is what I call my Johny Cash rifle, its a savage 7mag action, take off 10 fcp barrel, rifle basix trigger, egw base, bell and carlson stock, V24 scope. So almost a factory rifle!

i bet it is light though my .308 is not much of a hunting rifle weighing in around 14lbs:)

Just whitetail and groundhogs. Took a doe last year at 506yrds.

506 thats impressive. farthest shot on an animal so far for me was a doe at 275 in the head. but i just got my gun a few months ago. i wana stretch it out one of these days its just hard finding a long shot in south Texas brush. gun)

We have some alfalfa and orchard grass fields, can get 1200 if we shoot across all four. The main reason I shoot my 308 is that its cheap to shoot, I don't have much in it, and I can beat it around and not worry about it, but in all honesty I would take a longer shot on a whitetail with my 16lb light gun in 6br than I would with my 308, a 105 vld at 3030fps is pretty effective and its also dirt cheap to shoot.

6br is a sweet gun they gut that built me my gun is trying to sell me one know but i dont have 6k to spend on another gun right know, haha im still in college.

I tried the Lapua palma brass and didn't see much difference in accuracy. In most cases it was a little less accurate plus the flash hole is smaller and a pain to resize with regular dies. I finally got some de-capping dies to use and made it a lot easier. My friend just shot a mule deer in colorado at 670 yards with 168 a-maxes and I was very impressed with the results.IMG_20121102_092550.jpg
