.308 for elk

Well, the gf's savage is down for the season now too because she was having trouble with the eye relief and stock length so using a buddy's Remington 700 ADL (Older, built mid 80's) in .308. Anyway, bullet recommendations for cow elk for her?

Barns or Hornady GMX I would also think any of the partition style bullets would work well
