If you hunt a lot with your son, shooting the same cartridge may come in handy. One of those oops moments may be saved by being able to share on the spot.

Yeah I have a thought , consolidating to take advantage of shared inventory of components, is a great idea .Suggestions are great but want to buddy up to my son's 06 for one very important reason. SHARED COMPONENTS!!Thinking of consolidating my cartridges to take advantage of sharing same "inventory" of components.
Anybody else have these thoughts?
Another advantage is if your hunting together and want a few extra rounds ,you and your son can swap ammo ,back and forth.
Also did you say something about buying a gun? Go for it!

I have a 300RSAUM, and shooting 155 ELDM's at 3200 without a brake in a factory 700 is PUNISHING! RL 17 is the only powder I can get speed from out of my 24 inch barrel. I view the caliber as a glorified 30-06. Mine wont shoot what other people say theirs will without pressure signs.

i shoot 168 barnes at 3260 in my 26 in 300wsm, using re 22.
