I started out using 165/180gn bullets with IMR4831 and RL22. With the addition of a muzzle brake I have migrated up to 212/215gn's and now use RL26. Great accuracy and terrific velocity. That is my go-to now but I would love to get a hold of 5-8lbs of N570.

IMR 4350 for 150 grn bullets. 72 grns shoots tight little cloverleafs. YMMV
Yea, he was using 71gr set at standard length. Was shooting .88inch group, not bad but could be improved upon. I dont know his reloading technique, but will suggest a few changes to get neck tension correct and reduce his ES.

I'm sorry, he was also using H4350, not IMR4350

This has been my go to. With the scarcity of H1000 I switched over to IMR 7977 with excellent results. I lost a little velocity. The accuracy is still great
W, are you loading more or less of the 7977 than H1000?

RL26 if H1000 not around but neither are!
My local shop has been getting both of those powders in recently with the H1000 going for $45 and RL26 $36. I got 12 lb of the RL26 but have not tried it yet. H1000 is what works with 180 AB in my gun at 3100 fps with 1/2 MOA at 500 yards

Follow up report, LGS has both RL26 & H1000 today, unfortunately, still no primers.

So today I intoduced a fellow shooter into long range. He is a lease hunter of mine that is very interested in long guns and ballistics. Currently he is shooting a REM700 Long Range chambered in 300wm using 150gr Sierra Game Kings. Good round for central Texas whitetails at short ranges, but as he discovered today, not so much at distance. He is new to reloading, but off to a good start. He used his own loads out to 855yrds with good results, but could be improved upon. Today’s load was 71gr H4350 at COAL 3.340 averaging 3156fps ES 99 SD 29.5 (Labradar). We discussed the different aspects of reloading and lowering the ES/SD and bullet weight/ballistics.

I do not reload for the 300wm so I need powder suggestions for bullets in the 180 to 215gr range. He is on a budget so I’m looking for good terminal ballistics up close (inside 300) but still a viable option for steel out to 1000. Right now I have convinced him to keep his shots inside 300 and practice for 500 for game. He saw first hand what wind can do to a bullet past that.

Thank you for your suggestions
71 grains of IMR 4831 , 178 grain Match or 175 grain Sierra Green tipped . Tikka T3 Tac loves em .
Trying 178g ELD-X , having good results with these as well .
