300win vs 7rum

I am having some work done on my factory Rem 700 300win mag. I am having work done on the action and will be replacing the stock with either a B+C Medalist or a Manners. I am also considering replacing the barrel - not sure if budget will allow that now or may do sometime down the road. My question is if I replace the barrel should I go with the 300win again or should I go with a 7rum? I have a 338 rum for elk. This gun has been my primary hunting rifle - I hunt antelope, white tail and mule deer - hopefully some day caribou.
Thoughts and reasons why one may work better than the other?
I do reload.
