I have been shooting 180gr barnes ttsx bullets. Saturday I picked up a box of Berger 185gr VLD hunting bullets. I ran a bullet into the lands and am at 3.619 overall length. Looking for input on where to start with seating depth. The gun does have a wyatts box. Do they like to be into the lands - or how far off is a good place to start?

I will be using CCI 250 mag primers, Remington brass and H-1000 powder.

Thanks for your input.

Im running the same load almost.

you need to run a seating depth test it takes 24 rounds you shoot four 6 round groups.

Do a ladder test take you best load because this has your barrel harmonics close. Use that load for the seating depth test.

.010 off the lands
.030 off the lands
.050 off the lands
.120 off the lands

I got lucky I nailed it at .050 off the lands just like that.

300 win mag (no turn neck)
CCI BR2
81.0g of H-1000
Nosler brass
185g VLD
3030 FPS 14 ES 10 SD
