Hi I am new here and i just bought a 300 wsm and i cant find any loads that have imr 7828 and imr 4350, with 165gr bullets only for 150s and 180s. i shot 68grs of imr 7828 and 165 sierras to day and made 1 hole. does any one know if that is to hot of a load or is it OK? and how many fps do you think it is?

I shoot 64.5 gr of Imr 4350 with Norma brass and 168 gr amaxes in my rifle at 3150 with a 26 inch tube. I haven't loaded 168 grain bullets with 7828 but I did load some 178 gr amaxes with it. 68.5 grains of 7828 produces an ave of 3090 fps. I would have to guess that is a rather mild load you are shooting but if they are all in the same hole I wouldn't worry about it. I think I worked up to 69.5 gr of 7828 with the 178. Hope that helps.

every rifle will act a bit different from the next but I have had the best luck w/ H 4350 and 180 grain accubonds/ballistic tips.

charge doesn't matter since you have to check that for your own rifle.

thanks guys it puts them i 1 hole at 100 yds so i guess i will stick with it i just wanted a little more velocity. and i wanted to know what max is so if i play with it a little i dont go over.
thanks

The 300WSM is an awesome accurate round.I too hit the same hole quite often.I've got a couple of loads for 165gr bullets that are about a couple grains below max in my rifle.I could push it a little harder but it shoots so well with these loads I just stopped right there.65.0grs of IMR-4350 and 69.0grs of Reloader-22.They both give me a little over 3000fps and groups under 1/2" are common. The 7828 is slower than Reloader-22 and just guessing,I'd say your probably getting somewhere around 2900fps and yes you've got some room to go up a little, but you will probably fill the case before you max out with 7828.

I got my best results with IMR 7828ssc and 210 Bergers in a 300WSM.
I would think at 165 gr something else would be a better choice.

i'm still working on load development trying to find a good hunting load that is accurate

as far as accuracy goes my last group was .527 with berger hunting vld 175 grns but my average fps was 2883 out of an x bolt 23" tube

powder is imr 4350 @ 64.5 grns i got this velocity at -10 celcius

i don't have any pressure sign so far and recoil is not that bad but i would like to reach 3000 fps

is this acheivable with a 23" tube ?

berger's max load with 4350 is 62.4 grns i'm already at 64.5 can i push to 65 ?

tks Qaq
