I am trying to get a load dialed in quickly for elk season with a 300 Winchester pushing the 210 Berger Hunting. I am looking to use H1000,Retumbo or IMR8133 since that is what I have on hand.

Does anyone load data with any of those powders they could share as a starting point? I loads some IMR8133 today and was a good start but for lack of time any help would be appreciated.

H-1000, 75.0 grs. to 78.0 grs. depending on barrel length and barrel speed. 76.5 and 76.7 worked in my son's rifle w/ .035" jump.

Exactly, I start with 75 gr of H1000 and seat .02" off the lands. I've always had great luck with this as a starting point. Every rifle will have a different node, mine was at 77.5 gr with the 210 Berger VLD still at .02" off the lands.

I run 78 gr H1000 with 200 gr eld x in same cartridge. 2890 fps from 24" tube. Close to max.

4831 shot well also but velocity was low

Here's what works for me. Pic from last weekend. 26 inch barrel and muzzle brake. Haven't ever tried to push the velocity. No pressure signs other than slight flattening of primers. Will be bringing this with me in a week for bear if I'm successful first with the muzzleloader for elk.

Berger 210 HVLD
H1000 75.5 grains; velocity = 2795 (Labradar)
WLRM primers
Norma brass
CBTO=2.900; jump=.011"
Good luck with your project and your hunt.

Gonna echo the other posts-
78 grains H1000, Fed215 gets 2850 fps in the rifle I load these for.

Wow that's pretty impressive for 300 yards... I'm looking for another 300 shouldn't have sold mine 3 years ago

Thanks, I needed to focus because my 9-yr-old just did his with the 260 Rem (his 3rd time shooting it!)

You have a 1:10 or 1:9? Good looking group. I'm loading for my 6.5-284 right now but might be switching my focus to my .300 wm. My 6.5-284 is being very picky.

Mine is 1:10.

I been mighty tempted to get a 6.5-284 before. Suppose my next priority may be replacing the barrel in the 30-06 my parents gave me (long ago) so it is less finicky. That can be frustrating. Good luck.
