.300 Win Mag OR .338 Win Mag..???

Well... I have two .300 Win mag rifles, one for target and one for hunting. So I'd say .300 Win mag.

But... I'd REALLY like a .300 Norma mag for its somewhat superior ballistics and much less recoil than .300 RUM.

Put a 230 gr. Berger Hybrid Tactical bullet in either and you have great ballistics. Yep.
In fact the 230 gr. Berger in the .300 Norma mag. has the ballistics of a .338 Lapua mag., just not the energy.

But NATO and the US Army use the .300 Win. mag and it does fine for them.

If you are hunting elk either will do. 300 win has killed a lot of elk. I have owned both and still own a 338 in with a brake and it's very easy to shoot. I think whichever you are leaning toward will suit you well
