300 Win Mag ELD-X load testing?

I was able to get out and do a little shooting today with the 220gr ELDX and my 300winmag. I used 2 different powders. H4350 and IMR7828SSC. My best with the H4350 came in at 64.5grs with a velocity average of 2727fps. and sub MOA grouping. My best with the 7828 came with 70.5grs and an average velocity of 2867fps and a grouping of 1.25". I'm hoping that by playing with the seating I can get the last one to tighten up. All this was shot at 100 yards.

Jammer if you run H1000(75gr start) you will get the speed and really turn on that bullets performance. You need a slower powder brother. 7828 is a great powder but I think H1000 will get the results your looking for.

Thanks for the advice. I have a few pounds of H1000 so maybe it's time I revisit this bullet and give it another shot. Thanks.

1BD775FC-3058-472E-BB22-629F3F0917AD.jpeg Yesterday I tossed together a load using 220 gr ELD x and 72.4 gr H1000 2690 FPS coal was 3.45" T/C Compass 24 " barrel 1-10 twist it measured 1.858" at 200 yds . I think I will play with this a little . I had a piece of 1/4" plate , never thought It would penetrate.

Has anyone with a 300 Win Mag had a chance to shoot the ELD-X bullets yet? I curious how they are grouping and what kind of speed you are seeing with them so far?

Any load data would be appreciated.
I've had really good luck with the 212-g ELD-X with Retumbo powder and a great group about 2932 FPS and consistent groups at 1000- yards.

OK, my results so far with the 200ELDX has not been as promising as most have posted. 2000 purchased G1Sendero 300WM with 200 ELDX was at best so far 1 MOA load. Powders - IMR 4831, RL-22, RL-26. IMR 7828SCC, 0.010 - 0.025 off lands, ladder tested up to 3010 fps with RL-26 by far best for pressure, velocity and consistency. I don't have any H1000 and it sounds like it may be a route to try sometime in the future.

BUT, I have decided to halt any further testing since I really didn't see the accuracy potential that I am getting with the 200AB at similar velocities. The 200AB will consistently do <0.5MOA but I had to try the ELDX just to see if there was any possibility of improvement. The performance of the 200AB with both RL-22 and RL-26 was significantly better than the ELDX in this rifle. The ELDX shot OK but just not as well as the 200AB. I also have elk experience with the 200AB to prove its terminal performance within the distances I shoot. What is interesting is my 300WSM shot better with the 200ELDX with RL-17 and I would likely use it in that rifle.

I am loading for a friend that has a new Winchester model 70. I was thinking I would use either the 200 or 212 elder from hornady. However, I had to shove the bullet super deep into the case. The magazine box is a hinged floor plate. With the 200, I had to jump it 115 thousandths just to get it to fit in the magazine. Should I go to a lighter and shorter bullet? Thinking maybe 180 or 190 grain. Thanks!

Mine is actually jumping quite a ways with the 200gr eldx. I started at mag length and went in using the Berger method. Then fine tuned from there. Give them a try, they may work well

If your still playing with 178 eld-m blems I had good results with H4831sc.
72gr was the load, not max by any means 2910 fps but insane accurate.
HORNADY BRASS

COAL-3.510
SEATING DEPTH FROM OGIVE- 2.858

Issues relating to length and intrusion into the case are the perfect spot for the 190 grain pills. Have been playing with 190 ABLRs and VLDs from Berger just for this occasion. My 212 ELDX loading has a large crunch when it is seated deep enough to accommodate the magazine box. COAL 3.510

True. The 178 ELD is a bit more forgiving on that when mag limited. And the accubond is shorter still. Sometimes you gotta work with what you have. there is a combo that will kick *** in your gun. just gotta put in some R&D.

So you think my best bet would be to try the 178?
