Background: This is just a data set for anyone interested in N568. There isn't much posted data out there for this newer powder.

I was testing H1000, N568, and Ramsholt LRT at the same time, all @ 100 yards. First time running the 230 OTM's in this rife. Just looking for max pressures for each and seeing if something really stood out. This post isn't about my load development process or long range accuracy. Just sharing some data.



Viht has a posted load for the 225 ELD-M on their app:
24.5" Test Barrel
N568: 74.1-78.7gr
FPS: 2,536-2,694 FPS

My data lines up pretty well with theirs. Notice my recorded velocities at 78.5 & 79.0gr.


Sako S20
24" Barrel
~3.59" COAL
Peterson 300 Win Mag "Long" brass (virgin)
Fed 215M primers
Viht N568 Powder
Distance: 100 yards


I need to test at the higher end and see if I can fit a little more powder in the case.

Velocity isn't super awesome but the group I shot with this powder is pretty encouraging.

Under 1.5 MOA for a 15 shot group, 7 grains of powder charge difference.


I tested H1000, N568, and Ramshot LRT the same day. All had some good nodes but I’ve never had a max pressure test turn out like the N568 loads. I didn’t hit pressure signs. I’m already at compressed loads. I might be able to get another 1/2 grain in there.

Have you tried using a long drop tube funnel? I use one with N570 and get quite a bit more in a case with the long drop tube. I'm very fond of N570 which is just a longer kernel than N568. Nice shooting!

I have not. I guess I should look into buying one. I was going to try an electric toothbrush to get it to settle when I load the next batch.

*This is my first venture into super compressed powder loads. Kind of a new to me process.

At 100 yards it’s really not worth marking shots. If you step out to a minimum of 400 then you will start to see a dispersion of shots.

It's a new powder with very little published data, so I thought I'd just share. More context and background added to first post to try tamper expectations. :)

I fully agree with your assessment on needing to test at longer distances. 100 yard groups don't always hold up when it comes to long range accuracy. I haven't even shot for groups (my target is from a pressure test). Lot's more testing is needed as time permits.

This is pretty much how I've done load development lately, so I won't be posting about "my" process (it's not really mine):

*I do not start with the seating depth test.
