300 wby help

Hi there, I have a Montana rifle in 300 wby, I just had a #3 Bartlien barrel installed by a very good gunsmith. It has a great tigger and is bedded in the factory Montana stock. I broke the barrel in per the instructions. H-4831, IMR 4350 and a box of factory wby 180 ammo. I can't get the gun to shoot! It's a 1 in 10 twist. I cleaned real well with CR-10, then ran JB Bore Paste down the barrel, then cleaned again and oiled. the bullet I'm trying to get to shoot is a 168 accubond long range. The scope is a 4.5x14 leupold, Warne bases and Leupold PRW rings. I loaded a bunch more with IMR 7828, R-19, and AA-3100. Now, by the way, during break in the barrel was very very filthy. I'm hoping that the JB Bore Paste helps. I seat the bullets so it clears the magazine for magazine clearance purposes. All bases, rings and scope are top notch and tight. I'm told that IMR 7828 is the go to powder? Any tips? Maybe takes awhile to break in? I'm letting the barrel cool after a few shots as well. Thanks for any tips at all to get this going.

RL22 and the cursed IMR4350 are both good for what you are shooting. Not temp stable, no de-coppering agent, and been around forever, but very good in the 300Bee. Surprised to hear you got such a rough Bartlien.

Be careful with jb bore paste. Never pull it out of the muzzle. Usually if a rifle is shooting dirty you are running too low a charge and too low of a pressure. I only use jb if a rifle starts to build pressure or the groups open. Wrap a patch around a brush `and run up about half the length of your barrel and then back into the chamber. Usually just in front of the throat is the bad spot. Sometimes a gun just does not like a certain bullet. Have any 180 sierras? My go to load in the 300 is 83 of H4831 and a 180. If it won,t shoot that it won,t shoot anything. Of course start at 81 and work up. I use a cci 250 primer. Good luck!! I forgot to add. In my experience the accubond LR bullets are very soft.

I forgot to tell you, there was a batch of Hornady and a batch of WBY ammo that did NOT shoot well

What do you mean that it won't shoot i,e., large groups, vertical strings, horizontal strings etc.? What is your setup? Are you using a borescope to determine "very filthy" and what constitutes very filthy? Need more info.

Almost 2" at 100 yards, dry patch every 2 shots comes out with a lot of black on the patch.

The IMR4350 was my load from Lyman 46th edition. No longer concidered safe in Lyman 49 Edition.
The IMR7828 SC ..around 82 grains. Nosler Data says 80.5-84.5 is the range. Start low and walk it up to find what your rifle likes. BTW I use CCI 200 in that load.

I have had hard times trying to get the accubond lr to shoot I would suggest a regular accubond or a sierra gameking 180 gr and use a magnum primer the rl22 is what we ran for years always worked well just temp sensative

AB 200, Federal 215 and RL22 is the load I took to Africa with two rifles. Deadly combination
