Barrel length is dependent on application but a 9 twist would be good for most higher b c bullets that you might use.
I think barrel length would account for about 20-25'/inch

How does the 30 Max compare to the 30 Sherman Mag? Same twist? Advantages of one over the other? Both use mag bolt faces, correct?

10 twist will run clear up to 230 Bergers so its fine.
with 26" barrels and 215 Bergers the Max would run well around 2900-2950 and the SM at 3150-3200
same bolt face but Max is a rebated case and the SM is not

Dummy round for FB was set at 3.090" for the 300 Max with a 215

Equal pressures and freebore, they will produce same speed. Case capacity is the same. The only reason for it to go faster is to be operating at a higher pressure.

@elkaholic could a .300wsm be rechambered to 300max by just reaming it out?
