I'm looking at switching from 180gr Nosler BT (BC .507) over to:

- 190gr Berger VLD (BC .570)
- 200gr Accubond (BC .588)
- 210gr Berger VLD (BC .631)
- 230gr Berger (BC.743)

This will be run out of a Remy 700 Sendero 26" barrel. (Also playing with powders)

Anyone have any suggestions??? from your experience - whether from the above list or not.

Thanks!

I'm running the 200 NAB in my 300 RUM using RL-25, re-sized brass, Fed 215 primers it yields 3100 fps. I also while load developing tried Retumbo. 95.0 gave me 3200 fps with really great accuracy but had pressure signs. The RL-25 load has proven exceptional in accuracy many times for me.

I'm currently in the beginning stages of trying US869 Powder. The Jury is still out on that one but initial testing has indicated some promise with this powder.

I've run wc 872 in my rum and it's fine; it is basically 869 or aa8700 in mil-surp. If you want to go heavy with your rum I'd try something similar to what I've done with the 225 hornady. I'm running 225's at 2870 fps with 98 grains of rl50 with a 215. If you don't mind a bit more compression you can go to 102 grains of rl50 and hit 3000 fps on the same 225. Mild pressures for both.
I still like 180's at 3300 fps with rl25 though.

I ran the 200 gr accubond with RL-25 for several years..Never had a bullet fail to exit till last year. I guess 650 yds and running through 20 inches of animal was enough to do it.

After reading Broz report on the 230 gr hybrid I will be using it this year. After reading many reports chose H1000. Using a 24" rechambered Rem 300 win SS barrel vel is 2860 fps.

Lots of bullets to choose.

Don't overlook the Berger Hybrid 215 with a .696 B/C. I discovered one of the beautiful things with this bullet is it's relatively short bearing surface (due to a long boat tail) which lends itself to great velocity compared to other VLD type bullets. The load in my 27" RUM is a COAL of 3.880" at .005" jump, Remington brass, 94.0 H1000 and Fed215GM primers which is producing 3,185 fps with an ES of 7 fps last I checked.
