Having a 300 Norma built specifically to seat the 230 bergers out long. 26" 1-9 twist barrel. I'll be using Lapua brass, N570 and 215M's for load development. Would like to hear specifics if anyone has used this exact load and what their recipes were! Also plan to test out the 215 hybrids and 199 Hammer Hunters. Thank you for the info! I know there's a huge 300 Norma loads thread on another forum, but few of the loads are with these bullet and powder combos. Or they're not specific enough haha. Thank you for any info!!

In my 28" barrel the 199s were very fast and accurate but never got enough pressure to have consistent ES with N570. Ended up using 230's and was very happy. If you really want to go with the 199s I think you'll be better off with a faster powder like H1000.

If you do a search I started a thread on this exact combination last year, might be helpful.

Yeah I've looked at your thread!! Great info!! Is your gun throated for the 230's? I was hoping for 3050fps out of the 230's.

Also, great info about the 199 hammers!

Mine was throated for 230s and after the barrel broke in was making 3100 FPS with them using N570. Understand that it was likely a fast barrel and most won't reach that velocity safety.

Anything sending a 230 over 3000 FPS is going to be a great performer, don't get to excited about pushing it super hard. My last barrel was luckily a very fast one but many will settle in around 3000-3025 or so with the 230's, Lapua brass and N570. Norma brand brass shows pressure at 3000, hint, hint. Most of us are over pressure with the stronger brass and don't even know it, proceed with caution.

Thanks for all the great info dude. I’ve been pushing the 195’s at 3030 through my 28 nosler and they are a freaking hammer. So I’m not too caught of pushing the 230’s much faster. Just like the idea of even more energy and shrapnel into the animal. And hopefully some exit holes. The 195’s never exited. But also never had an animal take more that 10 steps so.... haha.

230 exit on a good size buck just under 300 yards.
