300 norma mag on 700 long action

I am hoping for some info on your opinion concerning the use of a 700 rem long action to build a new 300 norma. Some say u really need 338 lapua based action to protect yourself because of pressures. Others say the 300 ultra action opend up with a sako style extractor is just fine. Looking or some experience or feedback on the subject. thanks.
