I'm building a 30-06 Savage Rifle for range shooting (bull barrel, target stock, etc.)
Does anybody have any pet ELD-M bullets and loads for 600-1000 yard target shooting?

Thanks

I have a couple loads with the 208 ELD and RL 17.
I use hex boron nitride on my bullets and using 3.48" COAL. So I'm not sure if my data will be helpful.
I worked up to 2750fps with Winchester brass, and 2700fps with Lapua brass. This is with Hex coated bullets and probably won't be attainable safely with naked bullets.
I would say 2650fps could be had though.

I've shot more screamer groups with Rl19 in the 06 than all other powders. It is not temp stable and requires constant attention. Dirty etc. It does shot though once you find the nodes. They always seem to be fairly wide. I shot to 650 yesterday with a 308. 175smk and tmk and 178 bthp and eldm's With alttile too much varget i was getting a swipe on the 3rd or 4th shot in the string @ 2724 w/43.7 grains in FC once fired. The Lapua brass was 2783 for the 2 shots at the same load. I'll pull them and drop down a grain and work up in that brass.
I hit the 4" gong each shot (5)with the tmk's The smk's I missed to the right 2 times. I had 2 hits with the hornady bthp and 4 hits with eldm's All were correct verticle but I didn't see the wind changes(no flags going off what I had where I was) My dope was 1 minute less up at 480 and 2 minutes less up @650 for the eldms and tmks using both strelock and hornady's app. I have it in my book but I dunno how to get the app and actual to line up yet. The regular hollowpoints were 1/2 minute high @480 and didn't hold verticle too tight at 650. I put 10 shots on paper that had over a minute of verticle and 2 of wind(not holding for it).
Both the tmk175s and eldm 178's were in that 1/2moa of verticle. These were also handloads vs GMM and Hornady match box ammo which both had 2708-2723 velocites. They both shoot into the same group at 100 and all the way out to 650
14.25 moa for the handloads and 16moa for the match box ammo@650
This was 80 rounds in 3hrs . Kinda fast but the barrel could be held without discomfort throughout the session. I typically shoot about 200 rounds of rimfire when I know I have a bunch of data to acquire.

If you can't find RL17 you likely can't find 16 either, but if you can, I had excellent results with 178 amax last year. Great velocity and accuracy and it is said to be very stable.....rich

Winchester 760 and IMR4350 are solid performers in the 30-06, as well as RL17(I use all 3 in my '06 for bullets weighing 150-180gr). I know some who are using RL26 with the 178 ELDX and getting over 2900 fps with it

I know this is an old post, but I just put together a awesome load for my Rem700, factory barreled 30-06. 208gr. Hornady ELD Match over 57.0gr of H4831SC.

what kind of velocity are you getting? 2600-2700?? That load will be the Hammer of Thor
No lol nothing that crazy. I actually haven't chronographed it, but from a 100 to 200 yard drop I beleive I am right around 2500fps. But my groups are what really matters to me. The picture attached is 3 shots at 500 yards!
