So I got one of this rare creations and want to reload for it.
220RN sierra is ordered and now need load data.
Got n-130, 135, 160 and 560-570.
The 160 maybe?

Is there any military records of where its been? Some history about who had it?

There is lots of history about the Karg, easy to find using a Google search. As far as load data, there is also lots of that but I have never seen it for the Vihtavouri powders you list. I think I might try calling the powder manufacturer or use a powder that is commonly used in the Krag like 4895 for lighter bullets and 4350 or 4831 for the heavier ones. Depending on the riffle you are using it in watch you don't load too hot. Many of the fine old rifles were built for BP. If all else fails and you can find VH load data for a 30-30. start 20% below min and work up.

The krag was a Norwegian design. Was used as the service rifle until the mauser took over after WW2.
It was the main rifle for both hunting and competition so I would say half of the people I know has a krag in 6,5x55 so I never had the desire to own one until I had the chance to get two for about 500USD (30-40 and 8x58RD)
I would expect about the same powders since they all have the same design of the action and fire relatively heavy bullets for there bore.

find a few loads with N-160, but for lighter bullets.
Running the load data trough gordonsreloading tool shows that N-160 and N-560 loads should both work and with better margins than the IMR reloading data published by Sierra.
Have some 414 powder but only find 200grain speer data for it.
I have pushed it in other rifles I have, but not quite ready to push it in the old Krags.

I agree, if you want a faster moving bullet, get a 30-06. Shoot the Krag within its limitatioons it is still a very fine hunting and target round.

I had luck with simulate and cross check between different casses+ a pinch of caution and comon sense before, but this is a weak design and aged, but hell im gona use it. Just need some data i can feel safe about. Hoping to get stuff early next week. Gunpowder is hard to get by mail and i think im past what i legaly can own :/

Simulations show that 41grain of N-160 should push a 220grain sierra about 2100fps with a max pressure of 35440psi.
35,5grains of N-540 should do about the same.
Im in no need to push the old gentleman. Only required to produce 2200J(1623ft-lb) at 100m in order to fulfill legal requirements to use it to hunt deer and moose.

Remember you are only dealing with one locking lug on the bolt.
Actually they are two ;) one at the front and one at the rear of the bolt. Because of none matching numbers the faces often dont match
Wonder how a guy in Norway got a US 30-40 Krag ?
I got no idea 😅
The guy I got it from had it after he's late father, but did not havd the licence to keep it. So it would either be sold or scarped by the police. He's father was an colector.
How he ended up with it? I read that some was sent to france during WW1.
Is there any register for US service veapons where I could punch in the serial and get it's service history?

To me it looks like an original untouched m1898.
The 3 pice cleaning rod is missing.
There is no serial number on the bolt so I dont know if its the original so i got no idea if both locking lugs touch completly.
