I was young and dumber! :) I wanted the 1000 yard ultimate hunting rifle and cost didn't matter. 30-378 with 30 inch barrel and 2 inch brake. I bought 400 cases. Back then they were only about a buck a piece. Got to have a bragging rights rifle. I concentrated on 200 -240 grain bullets with my 9 twist. 220's were the best paper and I found some VLD 210 hunting bullets that were exceptional. 2) More like sub 600 rounds when you saw paper punching open up 3) Cost when you start putting in up to 120 grains of US869 or big doses of the other slowest powders it seems like you only get to reuse the cases a few times and they get cracks often down by the belt. Now they are up to $3 per case and you get about 3 shots before they fail. 4) I rebarreled mine after less than 600 rounds the first year. Well it was gone in a few more years and I was going to rebarrel it and sell it when I found out the best thing to have it made into was a 338-378. a real cannon that last much much longer. get a 30 inch .338 and launch 300 grain bullets. But anyway It was loaned for even African hunts as a 30 cal. IMO: it was fun, but dumb! I've owned some other good ones, like 338 LM, 416 rem, .458 win mag, .458 Barnes American.
