Alex Wheeler recently did a re-barrel for me and i decided to switch from the 28 Nosler to the 30/28 Nosler. My main reason was the optimum powder for the cartridge. The 28 Nosler seems to run best under Reloder 33 or N570. Vhitavouri N570 is by far the best for the 28, but very hard to come by. I decided to take some minimal B.C. bit and roll with the Berger 215 and H1000. Specs are below.

Razor TI long action
McMillian game warden adjustable stock
Trigger Tech trigger
Proof 26" Carbon 1:9.4 26" long

I did a short barrel break in and started to run it up to see where pressure was. Managed to hit 87.6 and still didn't hit bolt lift of flat primers. 87.6 was just starting to get compressed, velocity was 3150. Alex mentioned that there should be an accuracy node around 3100. I started off with FED 215 primers and shot the ladder below. I then returned with CCI 250's and the spread went way down. All shots were from prone bipod and Labradar. The smaller group at the bottom was at 100. The center to center of the 3 shot group was right at .3 inches. I am very happy with the rifle and the switch to H1000 and 215 Bergers. Just thought i would throw this out there incase anyone else had the build in mind. Brass prep is using sinclair expander mandrel with dry neck lube and 28 Nosler brass just necked up..

Coal is shorter than 28 Nosler and 195. I can run it through a center feed hinges floor plate

Awesome . That's a BA round.
Let'er rip tater chip.

Post a pic of that round please.
Sounds like my 300WM is in trouble.

Right around 3.720. I can check tonight. I always use my ogive tool. But it's close to there. I'll also take a picture and post it. I am really excited to be running a 215 and H1000 in a hunting rifle due to the reputation the 215 has on game. And the temp stability and availability of H1000

Ran the ballistics with info above..Thor's hammer! I've never been a 30 cal guy but this thing has me thinking. Wow.

This is my first 30 cal. Always been a 7mm fan. He is also building me a 24" 7 saum off a tikka action so I can run the 180 very long. Goal is 2900 out of a 24" barrel which would kill almost anything but be more of a brush/shorter 300 and under lighter gun. Even though this 30/28 is about 10 lbs scoped with bipod.

I'm a 7mm guy and had gap build me a 7saum on a long action. I'm shooting the 180 hybrid .020 off @ 2900 on the nuts out of a 26" 8.24 twist proof with 62.2 gr of H1000 in Norma brass lit with 215 Fgmm. Groups are ragged hole. You planning on running RL26 to get to 2900 out of 24"?

Yes I plan on trying that and H1000. Not sure how long your freebore is, but I am going for the .200-.220 range. A buddy has a build like yours and was able to run up to 65 grains of H1000 using a drop tube and was around 3000. I would prefer H1000, but 26 might have to do. We will see.

Thanks for posting the info. I can run my SAAMI 30 Nosler up to 3100 with no pressure with 215s but the accuracy is around 3040. I have had two and the node in the SAAMI chamber is very similar. I am going to send off a dummy with 230 SMKs for a reamer.
