30-06 re barrel?

Do you load your own and enjoy it? What kind of plinking? Consider ammo or bullet selection and also with a long action you could use 6mm REM, 257 Roberts 6.5X55 or 7X57 and load long bullets out of the powder space.

Just finished a 6.5 X 55 on a long action, can't wait to see how well the "Swede" will group

i have a remington 700 06 that i don't really enjoy shooting. ideas for a rebarrel to a different caliber?? be for deer or just for fun

I read a lot of the sugestions and they are all good. I like the 270 Win and that's my personal favorite. I have a 700BDL-DM that's my deer rifle. but I really like the 6.5s like the 260Rem,6.5x284,6.5x06 or6.5 Creedmoor. I hope this helps. Look at the Remage barrel and barrel nut system. This would give you the option to swap out barrels.

I went to a 6mm creedmore and love it. Mild recoil and shoots easily at five hundred plus

25-06 Ackley Improved would be my vote. Very little recoil and very deadly. I would build that over a 6.5 ManBunGun!
I have killed more elk with a 25-06 than any other gun. The lack of recoil makes for easy shot placement.
