I have a Rem 700 BDL Mountain 30-06 and it just does not get much use anymore. I am thinking about building it into a light weight deer rifle with long range capability. I already have a few .270 cals and may like to have a 25-06 or 6.5-06 or???

Any ideas would be appricitated, would I be better off just selling and starting over.

What's the current barrel weight and length of the 06? Does it shoot well? I would say look into a Manners, B&C, or McMillian light weight stock. Manners you can choose what percentage of Carbon fiber to fiber glass ratio you want. That will knock some weight off. Just make sure that thing fits you well. I don't care much for the recoil of the 06, especially in a light rifle. Get a good recoil pad too.
