30/06 hand loads

I would stick with the 175's and up. My model 70 EW seems to prefer them and the BC's are becoming advantageous at that distance. H-4350 gave me the fastest velocity but Hunter and RL-16 were more consistent. Hunter with WLRM primers have me the lowest ES/SD I've ever seen and great accuracy. It was right at book max with 180 gr Sierra prohunters. Velocity was 2769. I threw some rounds in the freezer for a few hours and they clocked at 2711 but still gave the extremely low ES/SD.

After I purchased a MOD 70 SS Classic 06 I did a lot of shooting and load development with SGK 165 and 180's. After trying several powders it came down to H4350 vs IMR4350. The H4350 won it constantly produced tighter groups, like Vol1975 in post #9 I ended up with same results with180's and H4350.

JMetzger,
You have one find shooting rig! What do you shoot at 500 yds? I would have some pretty high confidence in that rifle/load combo. Well done.

You didn't mention what the barrel twist was. I tried very much to find a 190 gn AccuBond load, but my 40-year old Ruger M-77 barrel couldn't handle the bullet.

Here's my recipe for 180 gn.

This load has shot very well in at least 5 rifles that I have loaded for.

H4350 with 150 Scenar and 180 accubond. Using only 155 Scenar now. Sure H4350 would be great with the 168 too.

IMR 4350 59.3 168 ALCO BC .678 at 2987 Weatherby Vanguard 2 30-06 & 24".
The ALCO 155 .626
210 .848 IMR 4350 51 at 2494 all very accurate.
Haven't been able to hunt with them yet but steel/paper are great.
