Anyone tried this combo yet? I have seen this done with Reloader 17 but I can't find any info on h4350. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

With the 215 Hybrids in the .30-06 you would probably be best to try a slower powder, like 7828 SSC, 7977, or H1000.

I have very good luck in 30-06 with RL 17. I don't see the temp instability with that case. I did see it in 6.5 Creedmoor.
My hex coated 208 ELD load in win brass is running 2750fps with room to go higher. I went to 2800fps but got loose primer pockets at 4 firings. My Lapua brass load is running 2700fps. I've ran these from 40 degrees to high 90s with no dangerous pressure spikes. Velocity does come up a little, but it does with temp stable powders when we're talking 90 degrees.

H4831sc temperature stable, good case fill. I use it in my 30/06 with the 230 Berger OTM. Start at 50.0g and work up.

Running the 215 Berger at 2700fps has the same wind deflection as my 6.5 SS did running 140 bergers 3150fps at 1000 yards. That is a lot performance and barrel life from the 06. Most of the time I'm shooting 800-1500yards and further. If I was running the 06 again the 210+ bullets are the only thing I would consider. But for those that do 90% of their shooting at less than 800 yards it's makes more sense to run 180 class bullets, just depends on what ranges you do most of your shooting at.

The hodgdon load data shows 1 load that makes 2600 fps with a 208 amax. The majority are 2400-2500.
A 190 Berger makes more sense for the 30.06 imo than the 215 regardless of distance. Not enough velocity generated to get the book bc of the 215.
The 215 is on the heavy side for the 300 magnums with vastly larger powder capacities.

Hodgon load data was tested in Sammi chambers and throats, it is conservative when it comes to max loads listed as it should be. My example was based on guys using custom chambers that are throated long. If a person is shooting a rifle with a Sammi chamber under 1000 yards then the 190 is a good choice. But when you say regaurdless of distance, past 1000yards to shoot the 190gr over the 215 will give lower impact velocitys, longer TOF, more wind drift, lower impact energies, and decrease your cold bore hit percentage. That does not make sense to me. Despite the velocity generated from the muzzle with the lighter bullet, at distance that velocity will be outran and slower than the heavy bullet that started out slower at the muzzle. I agree, the 215 is on the heavy side for the 300 magnums. Heavy bullets and long range shooting/hunting go well together.

Sorry OP Im a little off topic.

I've been shooting Berger 210's and 215's in my .308 Win for years. No problems here. Pushing them right at 2,500 FPS. Despite the slower MV, the ballistic trajectories are in line with a 6.5 CM with a 140. The only thing that sways into the 6.5CM's favor is bullet drop, and it's not by much.

My 30-06 is throated long, I would have to check my notes. But I think I was running 3.45ish. The 215 was running 2700-2750 right with the 208.
These are hex coated....

Gohring, you should try bumping up to a .300 Sherman to push those 215's...All you need is a reamer and a set of dies and some new .270 Win brass to form...Nothing else changes. It will compete with the .300WM, but in a standard .473" bolt face long action.

My 26" .30-06 AI will push a 185 VLD right at 3K... That's not that far off of a .300WM, so imagine tossing in a good bit extra powder room and less wall taper in the .300 Sherman, and it should push the 180 Elite Hunters over 3,100 MV. That's smoking! In the future, when I rebarrel my .30-06 AI, I will most-likely be going with a 1:10 twist .300 Sherman. Won't need more than a 10" twist in that cartridge, as I don't plan on pushing more than a 215 Hybrid, as most.
