Finally got my hands on some 208 Amax
I have a few powders to try.
Reloader 17 (finally)
Imr 4350
Imr 7828
I was wondering if any one had some experience with any of these powders? I know Shane (montanamarine) has some with reloader 17 and moly 208's which is going to be my primary load work up. But I have the other powders and thought someone may have some advice on those as well..
Thanks.

Man that bullet weight in .30/06 just about begs for H4831SC. Tempurature stabile and you should be able to get to peak velocity and about a full case. The IMR 7828 should get you to a full case and decent velocity. Maybe try the 7828SC to find peak velocity. My rifle just didn't like 7828, YMMV. R-17 will likely run into max pressure around 54g, IMR 4350 a little more. R-17 should yield more velocity, grain for grain than the IMR 4350. I've not played with moly coated bullets from my .30/06 so I can't comment directly as to what you can or can't expect, though I have used them from my 6.5/06. I found that moly coated 139g lapua scenar will let me use about .6g more H4831SC before I get pressure signs. It wasn't enough to reach a higher accuracy node, in that rifle, so I didn't end up staying with them. YMMV. I really like R-17 with the 167g lapua scenar from my rifle I worked up to 58.1g and settled at 56.5g and 1/2 MOA.
.30/06 is really flexible with a variety of powders and bullet weights. My good friend uses Varget and 185g juggernauts from his rifle for great results. I use H4831SC with the 230g OTM Tactical from mine. Another friend uses H1000 in his with the 208 AMAX...

Thanks,
I seen some 4831SC at Cabelas yesterday, I wish I would have posted this thread and went up next weekend its 2 hours away. But I will look elsewhere, I have a couple of places to check much closer..
Thanks again.
