JMACK you have two Beautiful Rifles there !

If they shoot as good as they look your all set with either ! Not ever having a 28 Nosler and well you have seen a few of the Rums I have I'm still picking the 300 Rum !

Rum Man
Thanks man! It is a tough choice with two good shooting rifles. contributions to the thread are appreciated!

Ok well here is #3 Rum !
This was a fast parts build from members her to shoot at our first 1 Mile Milk Jug Challenge here in Montana .
The action came from a local member , the barrel came from a good friend member in Idaho, the Mcmillian a5 came from a member in Eastern Mt . The trigger was sent over from another good member friend in North Dakota and also some load data !
The 20 moa base and Scope I had . The Nightforce 34 mm 20 moa uni mount came from a local member .
This 300 Rum sends the 230 bergers I got from a member at 3036 ft.per.sec with some brass from a different member .
This 300 Rum has some memories from lots of guys on here , it makes me feel good to injoy it !!

I built it to put a Whoopin on a milk jug at a mile but I have been taking it on our Mt. Spring Bear hunt . We seen one at 1567 yrds.but I'm to beat up to hike up that far in prime Grizzly area. We did see a little black bear on Sunday headed in to our look out spot ! I typically use one of the 338's for bear but this 300 Rum shoots so good I have to try it out !

awesome man! Sounds like good time!

For out to 500-600, flip a coin. You can easily do it with less gun too.
We use my sub-9# .280AI w. 175 Elite @ 2976 or sub-10# 7RM w. 180 Hyb @ 2996 for elk. Out to 882 so far. Further than that, or if they present a closer shot while glassing, the 15.5# .300 RUM pushing either a 215 Hyb @ 3100 or a hot 230 Hyb @ 3113 has flattened them with authority.

Weight is definitely a consideration in elk country. So depending on your rifle weight, and planned activity for the day, and possible shot distance, that would be my determining factor. Elk hunting and harvesting can happen from 10 to 1000+. Either of your rifles sound capable of that, as long as the shooter is.
The 195 EOL has way higher BC than the 200 NAB. But MV would dictate which one carries more energy down range. If they are comparable velocities, the 195 will pass the 200 in short order at distance.

Here is my .300RUM

Both rifles are comparable in weight right around 8-9lbs and this isn't going to be too difficult of a hunt in terms of physical exertion. Great point on the 195bc. It's not leaving muzzle at blistering speed but that high bc really carries a payload wayyyy out there. This is no easy decision. ha! I may just flip a coin each morning and take whichever one wins that day!

I can run that accubond at around 3100-3150. The 195s are coming out at around 2850. Both rifles are solid 1/2-3/4 moa (out to 500 I haven't done anything further) when I'm behind the trigger someone else could probably do much better.

195 @ 2850 from a 28 Nosler? You are leaving a lot on the table. I usually find an accurate forgiving node between 3030-3100+.
But, your brass and barrel are going to last a lot longer than most other 28 Noslers.

Im running a 20" barrel. If its consistently accurate at that speed I'll take it, longer barrel life will be a plus. So far the node I found seems forgiving time will tell tho
