280 Rem loads

Both 140 gr Accubonds from a .280 Rem. @ 3040 fps.
Left one was a large whitetail buck, 20 yards, strong quartering to me. Shot in the point of the shoulder... the bullet traveled through the chest to the opposite side and stopped under the hide at the last rib.
The bullet on the right penetrated both shoulders of a muley buck at 354 yards and was resting under the

hide on the far side.
Both retained 70%+ weight.

No one has mentioned rl-23...? It shines in my AI version with 140 AB's and federal's tipped 140 too
As does my 280 Rem but even better with RL16 and 143 gr Hammer Hunters.....got up to 3100 fps with RL26 but groups opened up to .6-.7" and chose to stick with the RL16 load for the accuracy and barrel life.

Manitou
What powder and what length barrel?

That's a question I have too is about sensitivity of rl-26. Is it really worthy using it under 40deg?
I have never used rl-26.Temp sensitivity is why I have stayed with IMR 4350 over the years.I loaded up 10 rounds one summer day.It was in the high 80's.I left 5 on my truck seat. and the other 5 on ice in a cooler.I shot the hot ones first. I let the gun sit a little between shots.Just less than 3/4 inch group. In between shots of the cold ones I put ice on the barrel.Same size group just a hair lower.

I'm currently shooting 140 absolute hammers at 3160 - 57 grains RL 26. No pressure and under 1/2 moa. 24 inch proof barrel. Case is getting pretty full at 57 grains so stopped there given the accuracy.
