im wanting to build a savage 110 and have found numerous parts that have a high appeal to me. my main question is whether to choose the 7mag or the 280 ai ? any insight would be great. as far as i have seen the main difference is the recoil and +- 25yds. is this true? would it be cheaper to load the 7mm as to the 280ai? what loads would be best for a 1000yd gun on deer?

You would save yourself a lot of grief by going with the 7 Rem Mag IMO just on the fact you have to fire form your brass and that will take a while. Also that will shorten barrel life. I have a friend who has a 280AI on the other hand and he loves it to death. It shoots very well for him.

Like I said, you will get a little bit better results I think with the 7 mag and also it will be an easier process.

Do you already have the action? If so build what matches the bolt face. If you are building a magnum, I would go with a 7mm STW.
