280 AI vs 7 mm SAUM

As someone who has had a lee single stage for the last 5 years and yet to actually have it set up, and having this exact debate myself I do have to ask... when will a guy actually be able to purchase factory .280ai again though??
all ammo is impossible right now but I can guarantee you will see 280ai on the shelves long before 7 saum
the reloader don't have it any better though with the supply issues

Both of my SAUMS are on short actions. If I were building one totally from ground up without existing parts I would definitely opt for a medium action that I could load rounds to 3.0" or more in
you cant go wrong with the saum on a mid length action. then if you want one of the Sherman saum based wildcats or a simple saum imp. will really step it up

Both my Coopers have 24" barrels

145 LRX 3050 FPS

160 NAB 2960 FPS

M700 SAUM

23" barrel

160 NAB 2940 FPS with RE 22 but is not stable velocity OR accuracy wise when temperatures get into 70's so my lights out load is a 168 Berger CH 2840 FPS with H4831

22" M7 7 SAUM

140 NAB 3100 FPS

I am building a 7 saum and liked the fact it should perform well with a shorter (20 inch) barrel. Does the 280 ai have the same reputation?

I had my 7 saum built on a long action. It has a 24" 1-7 barrel. I am shooting the 175 ELDX 3,025 fps using reloader 26. I would suggest a medium or long action in order to seat the heavy bullets out long.
