.280 Ackley Improved loads

I am currently shooting h4831sc with 150's , but getting some very large es. Probably gonna try rl 25/26 or h-1000 , got a bit of both. And I'm switching to 185 rdf .

He likely had bad experiences with the older Reloader powders and temp sensitivity but that is not the case with the newer ones. RL23, 16, and 26 are much better. You might get some argument about 26, but I have found it to be pretty good......rich

I've used Reloder 16 and Reloder 23 a lot! Developed some great loads with Reloder 16 for 375 H&H Mag , 6.5 Creedmoor and 7mm-08. I use Reloder 23 in my 212gr and 215gr 30-06 and 300 Win Mag loads as well as in my 162gr and 168gr 7mm Rem Mag loads. Love both of those powders! Great accuracy, very low ES, good velocities and excellent temperature stability.

So , I stayed with 4831sc and am working up pressure loads now . So far I'm at 55 grains and still no pressure ? And all with a 185 ! I'm gonna keep going and see where it maxes out !

it seems a bit odd that someone would advocate staying away from rl powders. I've seen a 7stw with a pressure trace push as hard with rl25 and 140's and at 8kpsi lower pressure than i7828 would do. I use rl15, rl19, rl22, rl25, rl33, and rl50 in handloads and all perform very well. My highest vel. variation is with rl22 with a 165 in my 300win; she is right at 3200 fps in cold weather and she'll creep up to 3270-3280 fps in hot weather. rl33 and rl50 seem to have about zero variation in my 300 rums...
