anyone have any first hand experience with these two calibers with a shorter than you probably want barrel? 28" would prolly be ideal for these two calibers. Playing with the idea of a shorter mountain/packing rifle that is lightweight but will still shoot and carry long range ballistics. But, I was wondering how much performance would be lost versus a 22-24" Barrel. To preface this a little bit, would be concerned with heavier bullets, 175-185 range. Also, what is the twist of said barrel.

If anyone happens to have one with a shorter barrel I would love to hear your ballistic results and build platform and how it performed on long range hunting shots.

Anything less than 25 would be asking to lose a lot of velocity I think. I know when people cut the 264 Winchester back to 22 they basically had a loud 270.
