Do you think a 270wsm will make a good 800 yard deer rifle ? Currently setting one up with a 28" barrel and 1in 8"twist and would like afew experienced thought cheers steve

Yes I have a 1-9T 270wsm 26" barrel and run the 165 matrix @3000fps just fine at 1500ft above sea level. And also the 126 hammer hunters at 3450fps. I Have killed elk one shot out to 450 ish yards with the 126HH and and deer and bighorn sheep out to 704 yards would push it farther. With no problem

I have a 270Bee with both a 10" twist and 9" twist.
The 150g ABLR or 175g ABLR are a perfect bullet on Australian deer species.
There are no Berger bullets here and Hammers are available if you want to try them.

Cheers.

I am aware of the 165 ABLR but not the 175 ABLR. In either case, they would be an excellent choice.

I have 200 150 grain accubond or have seen the 165grain for sale as well and you can get 170grain Berger's if you look

I do not think you can go wrong with what you have noted, but if you can get the 170 Berger, it would be my prime choice for LRH. I have a .270 AI with a 30" barrel 1:8" propelling the 175 Matrix at 2993 FPS (my current accuracy load) with H4831SC. I have come close to 3100 FPS, but the group opens up and with pressure.

That is a typo, meant to be 165g ABLR.
My bad, good pick up.
My Bee really likes those 150g ABLR, the new barrel likes them just as much as the old barrel, which is not shot out, just wanted a longer and faster twist barrel for it, could only get a 9" twist, so that will do for now.

Cheers.
