I just received a brand new weatherby mark v accurate clambered in .270weatherby. It was a dams gift from my grandmother. I have never hunting with a .270 weatherby and Im curious on what factory ammo to use because i do not reload. My two choices are the 140gr nosler ballistic tip or nosler accubond. My max shot is pushing 350yes closes be right in lap being i hunt cut overs and hollars. Should i just by a box of both and see what my gun likes or buy one and cross my fingers??? Thank y'all in advance!!!

P.s. Is there in middle Tennessee hunters on this sight.

I've personally never used Accubonds or Ballistic Tips, but my dad used B-Tips once and will never use them again. He had a 180gr B-Tip out of an '06 blow up on a bucks shoulder at 100yds, they were chronographed at 2750 FPS, needless to say he sticks to Hornadys and Sierras. You are going to be launching a 140 at around 3200 FPS from that .270 WBY and will definitely have the possibility of a B-Tip blowing up on you. The Accubond is suppose to be better, but they are so dang expensive, the extra cost is worth their better performance though. Hope this helps.

I have been very pleased with 140 grain Accubonds out of a .270 Wby, however they were all reloads. With your choices, I would go with the AB or maybe Nosler Partitions in Weatherby factory loads.

You have a modern Weatherby. All ammo available is premium. Get one box for break in and then get a couple to try. Clean your rifle well between trying different factory loads.

Shoot slooooow

I would use the weatherby brand factory ammo. Federa brand ammo is anemic in that chambering. Weatherby has loads with several different bullets. Try what you want and use what shoots best.

I thank y'all for the advice. I think Im gonna try the accubonds. I've used the ballistic tips in one of my 7mm mags the last few years and loved only down side i seen once to it i shot about a 130lb does around 75yds and she ran about 100yds and only bleed the last 50ft. Good shot behind the shoulder just hair over the heart. Didn't want a bullet for this weather to blow up if i had a good shot lets say 25yds. Because i do hunt thickets and hollars as well. Again i thank y'all!!
