New here but have been reading this forum for advise for years. Thanks for sharing your insight. I know very few are fans of the A bolts for the purpose of re-building, but I am and I sure it's going to turn out awesome.

A belated welcome! I have a .270 AI semi-custom with a 30" Lilja 1:8" 3G barrel. Don't worry about what others think about your build; as you noted, it's going to turn out awesome. Upon completing your project build, please share some pictures, and enjoy it. And, of course, plenty of successful hunts. Cheers!

Thanks Ed

I left off the barrel is a PAC Nor super match, and all metal cera coated burnt bronze.

Should be nice the .270 is under rated. The only negative until recently not many high bc type bullets available as opposed to say 7 mm.

I got some berger 170 gr EOL in the mail today and seated one. See attached three mock-ups. All of these are seated to 2.770 CBTO. The berger being the longest COL at 3.473. Fits fine in my modified magazine. All of these fit in the chamber of my factory Browning. But the blunt tips on the Berger's and the Hammers hit the back of the barrel. See attached. I'll need to discuss with my gunsmith if that is something he can address so these rounds chamber fine. I need an 160 gr ABLR to see how it works at same seating depth. My goal (I'm learning here) is start with these four rounds and discuss with my gunsmith the throat depth I want to work best with these for loads.

I'm curious where your getting the load data from for the Sierra's? I have a 7.5 twist 26 inch barrel ordered I'm doing for my dad
