Not trying to be a smart *** with this question... do I forget about "required energy" for bullet performance too and just focus on velocity?
Just curious, because I'd typically limit myself to 500 yards with this round to stay around 1300 ft-lbs. What's your opinion?
Wil respectfully as well, energy has never meant much to me. Destruction of vital tissue is what counts, and this design is reliably producing lethal wounds. At extreme velocities, through bones, extreme angles, soft tissue hits, and even less than ideal hits.

Not the experience some others have, but blood loss is awesome. More akin to archery wounds.

I cast my vote for Accubond due to first-hand experience. Curiosity, and a desire to no longer eat lead, have nudged me towards monos. As such, there is a sample pack of Hammer Hunters sitting on the loading bench to be loaded for testing.
Every rifle I've loaded them in has LOVED them. Easiest load workup of any bullet I've reloaded for. BB has me considering the AHs for hunting with this rifle I've got now and will likely only be using my 140gr Classic Hunters for busting rocks and punching paper from now on =)

I went with a mono.....to be specific a Barnes 129 LRX, or the 140 TSX. Simply stated, we've had great success with Barnes mono's since the early '90's. Provided that the impact velocities are kept above a reliable expansion speed.....the just work! As larger, heavier boned, heavily muscled animals are on the list.....it's is difficult to dispute the effectiveness of a mono bullet, on these type of animals! memtb

I got to 3586 but it was way hot, If I can find some Peterson Brass I feel sure I can push in to the 3600 without any trouble
Just curious how you think Accurate 4350 might compare. I can get that powder easily right now, but H4350 is a pretty hard no. ;)

Everything I have READ suggests H4350/Accurate 4350/ADI 2209 are all within a couple grains of eachother.

I have no practical experience to back that up. I can say that RL16 has been pretty close to H4350 for me.
That's great news! Picked up a pound of AA4350. Now, just need to find some 270 brass. Would've never guessed that'd be nonexistent too! There's 30-06 brass galore at my local shop and even 6:5 Creedmoor, but not a single piece of 270!? What the hell!? :/
Thankfully i found 21 pieces of Federal brass I had sitting around from a few years back in a baggy on the reloading bench. =) Also found a pound of 760 in the stash for regular 270 loads.

wilkup I did some testing on Accurate 4350 and Imr 4350 and they are fairly close but never substitute a load with either powder.
Look at the load data and never start where your last powder hit a positive node.
Same with H4350,close but still back off and work up.
Shooters World 4350 is a safe bet also if you can find it but again back off and work up.

.270 for Griz?

Mono for sure.

150gr Nosler Partition is a pretty good 'all arounder'
Yeah, I kinda feel the same. .270 for Grizz ??? Not saying it can't handle the task BUT if I'm going on a Grizzley hunt, I'll be taking a bit bigger option. The "other box" if the Nosler Partition is considered "other". Great bullet for all big game IMO that the 270 is capable of handling. One thing I'll add to this since I started using it as a much younger hunter that didn't reload. The Remington Corelokt 130 PSP. I've killed dozens of deer with it and not one deer took a step after the impact. All bullets found on opposite shoulder just under hide. Excellent results and zero complaints. Even bought some bullets from Remington for reloading my 270. I'd put those in the same class as the NP in my experience for deer. Great bullet.
