270 Barrel Length Question?

What is the shortest barrel length that I could go with for a 270 winchester. I am looking to build a fairly compact rifle. I was going to have a sendero barrel cut down. Is this possible?

I have a 14 inch barrel on my 7mm TCU. which is a 7mm shooting 130 grain bullets on top of fire formed 223 cases.

You can get over 2000 fps. It's pretty accurate with a scope and a bypod and classified as a pistol. You could probably get a TC in 270 win and have a real hand cannon.

The whole idea of short barrel rifles goes against my grain.

If I wanted a 'short' 270, I believe that I would use a 260 or 7-08.
