I mean velocity wise and case differences, accuracy and advantages of one over the other.
I was considering rebarreling my 300wm in favor for a LR cartridge with less recoil. My 300wm though 12# still beats me up to bad and I'm not interested in braking it.

Also would the 6.5 (140gr.) recoil less than the .308 (175gr.)?

308,

To rebarrel that 300wm your going to have to get a bushing put on the boltface and that cost alot of $$$$, the 260 in the same lenght barrel will run about 200fps slower, but you can get 2800/2900 out of a long barrel, 30+", both have good components availible, but the 260 will cost a bit less to start reloading for, as for accuracy I dont think you will find a differance between the two, the 260 will last a bit longer for match grade accuracy, As for recoil, im running 140's in my 16.5lb match gun at 2850fps, and recoils like a 223.
